Merrin Harger
Merrin Harger is a New Zealand artist who spent most of her childhood in the Waikato countryside surrounded by limestone hills covered in native bush stretching out to the coastland of New Zealand. The experience and contrast of these environments has in part helped to develop the feelings Merrin has for the environment, landscape and seascape.
Merrin trained at The University of Auckland, Elam School of Fine Arts, and her medium of choice is oil on canvas. Her style is recognizable for her use of luminous colours, depth of field and texture that captures the raw and mysterious quality of the New Zealand landscape. Merrin has recently moved to England and intends to continue her landscape painting now challenged by the views of new terrain and unfamiliar landscapes, seen through eyes used to the sun travelling high above the Northern horizon and where the land reaches up and into the sky.
