Dulcie Walton
I've always been surrounded by art and music and have been a keen enthusiast from a young age. At school art was always my favourite subject and the subject I seemed to be most successful in. As a young child I entered art competitions and also spent a lot of my time exploring art and finding my feet - which I'm still doing! I travelled frequently as a child with my family around Europe, and visited all the art galleries/museums and cultural hotspots. As I've got older I've explored other parts of the world - New York, Scandinavia and Latvia.
At Secondary level I started at Holland Park School and moved to Hampstead Comprehensive, where like most people I took GCSE's and particularly enjoyed art and went on to do A levels in Art and Media Studies at Camden School for Girls.
After a Foundation year at Camberwell College of Art I went on to do a degree in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design at Leeds College of Art and Design. This is the direction I'm now heading in although my art varies from portraits, life drawing and flower drawing to textile printing and digital design. I don't feel I can restrict myself particularly to any sort of art as I am always experimenting and exploring what I'm capable of.
My inspirations vary from Wadsworth, Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Rauschenburg, Patrick Heron and Howard Hodgkin to many other artists. I'm always keen to discover more and expand my horizons. Music is also a great inspiration - I enjoy performing but only for my own amusement and I listen to a wide variety. I'm also very keen on film. Going to the cinema and watching films at home is a major hobby.
Although I am presently working for a Housing Association I've completed commissions and am available to do more.
Hope you enjoy my work!
